Welcome to our staff stories for November!

We want to shout about our incredible staff and all they bring to the restaurant, without them we wouldn’t have anything! We will be featuring a few people from our wonderful team each month and talking a little about what they do for A Rule of Tum.

LIZ

/ chef de partie / the bookshop

Meet the always smiling Liz. Liz joined the team in 2021 and immediately found her feet in The Bookshop kitchen with her wonderful hard-working spirit and super positive attitude.

“ The Bookshop is a fun and innovative kitchen to work in and every day is different. Sending out our delightful starters as the restaurant starts filling up is the most rewarding opportunity I’ve had yet.”

PETE

/ Head Chef + director / Maneki Ramen

Pete started working for A Rule of Tum back in 2018 in Burger Shop Worcester, with a dream of opening his own restaurant. Pete’s experience from traveling and working across Asia meant he was popular with the staff when he made them simple Japanese dishes for staff food.

This soon evolved into Pete creating and opening his own restaurant, Maneki Ramen, under the AROT brand. This started as a pop-up during the pandemic and quickly grew in popularity. In July 2021 Maneki Ramen opened a permanent restaurant in the railway arches near Foregate St. Station in Worcester.

JAMIE

/ General manager / Burger Shop Hereford

Meet Jamie, the new restaurant manager of Burger Shop Hereford who started in September 2021.

Jamie’s career in hospitality started when he was 14 as a kitchen porter in a local hotel in his village. This later led on to running Michelin Star restaurants-with-rooms across the Lake District and the Cotswolds, from there he went on to manage hotels and pubs

His favorite dish to cook at home is fresh fish with mushrooms, roasted potatoes, and gremolata with a glass of wine, but when at work it’s the legendary Hereford Hop Burger.
