What is the A Rule of Tum Fund?
We’re starting small by using our retail shop profits to fund 3 separate projects, these projects reflect our values and allow us to start giving back.
Where does the money come from?
By taking all of the profit from our retail shop in The Bookshop and using this to fund our projects. You’ll be able to get a Huskee Cup, Method Roastery coffee, or a tote bag and know that all of the profits go to worthy causes.
Regenerative tree planting
Working with More Trees each £1 spent on this project will plant a tree where it is most needed in the world. Tree planting without a plan can cause more damage than good, More Trees only plant native trees where they are needed in an effort to curb deforestation and regrown lost forests.
The Countryside Charity
The Countryside Charity advocate nationwide for the kind of countryside we all want: one with sustainable, healthy communities and available to more people than ever.
Supporting our mental health
Long antisocial hours, tough environmental conditions, and pressures to perform are just some of the issues that hospitality professionals are fighting against on a daily basis. The profits go towards Mental Health Awareness training sessions for students and hospitality professionals
8 out of 10
A survey of 1273 hospitality professionals showed that 8 out of 10 (84%) of respondents had experienced mental health issues within their career and 46% would not feel comfortable talking about their health concerns with their colleagues.
The Hereford Food Bank
The Hereford Food Bank has been functioning since 2008. It operates with a small group of dedicated volunteers and two part-time officers. Almost all the food supplied is donated by local people - both individuals and businesses.
Making the money go further
Rather than donate the money directly to the Food Bank we pass it on to an account with our suppliers who add an additional 20% to the donation. The Food Bank can then use this fund to up their supplies, in particular, fresh fruit and vegetables as and when they need it most.
